I still remember that summer when I experienced the darkest period of my adult life. I lost the people dearest to me and found myself trapped in a cycle of deep emotional pain, in an endless void. Nothing seemed to help. Therapy felt like a slow grind, meditation was nearly impossible in my overwhelmed state, and even my usual self-care tools felt ineffective. I was stuck—until I made a commitment to myself to keep showing up for two practices: EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) and breathwork.

Day by day, tapping on specific points while voicing my pain and fears began to unravel the heavy emotions that had weighed me down. Coupled with breathwork, EFT didn’t just ease the emotional burden—it brought me back to life. That experience was so transformative that I now use these two tools most frequently to help my clients release emotional pain, rewire old patterns, and step into their power.

My personal experience helped me understand why EFT earned its nickname—the “5-minute miracle”.

What Is EFT (Tapping)?

If you’re curious about what this practice is, EFT is a simple yet powerful mind-body technique that combines ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology. It involves gently tapping on specific meridian points on the body while focusing on emotional or physical issues.

Research shows that by stimulating these meridian points (similar to acupuncture but without needles), EFT helps restore balance to the body’s energy system while calming the mind. This allows you to release trapped emotions, reduce stress, and ease physical discomfort—often in a matter of minutes.

Why is EFT Called the “5-Minute Miracle”?

EFT has earned its reputation as the “5-minute miracle” because many people notice significant improvements in just a few minutes of tapping. Here’s how it works so quickly:

  1. Rapid Stress Reduction:

Tapping on meridian points while acknowledging your emotions sends calming signals to your brain, particularly to the amygdala, which regulates the fight-or-flight response. This can quickly lower cortisol levels, the stress hormone, and bring a sense of calm.

  1. Emotional Release:

By addressing emotions directly and tapping while voicing them, you allow those emotions to be processed and released. Whether it’s fear, anxiety, anger, or sadness, EFT helps to clear the energetic blockages that keep these emotions stuck.

  1. Physical Relief:

Since unresolved emotions can manifest as physical tension or pain, EFT often provides immediate physical relief. People frequently report reductions in headaches, muscle tension, and other stress-related symptoms after a short tapping session.

How Does EFT Work?

The basic EFT process is simple and involves three key steps:

  1. Identify the Issue:

Choose the emotional or physical issue you want to work on. It could be anything from feeling anxious about an upcoming event to physical tension in your body.

  1. Set Up the Tapping Statement:

While tapping on the karate chop point (the side of your hand), repeat a setup statement that acknowledges the issue while offering self-acceptance.

Example: “Even though I feel anxious about [the issue], I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”

  1. Tap on Key Meridian Points:

Tap gently on the following points while voicing your feelings:

  • Top of the head

  • Eyebrow

  • Side of the eye

  • Under the eye

  • Under the nose

  • Chin

  • Collarbone

  • Under the arm

After a round or two of tapping, check in with yourself and rate the intensity of the issue. Most people notice a significant reduction in intensity after just a few minutes.

Why EFT is One of My Go-To Tools

What makes tapping even more impactful is its ability to uncover the layers beneath our struggles. By gently peeling back these layers, EFT helps you identify and address the root causes and limiting beliefs that may be holding you back. In clearing these internal blocks, tapping not only provides relief but also opens the door for achieving your goals and living a more fulfilled, aligned life.

I’m deeply grateful for the transformative effects EFT has brought into my life. It’s not just something I teach—it’s something I use regularly in my own life.

When my clients come to me feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or burdened by emotional pain, EFT often becomes the key to unlocking their healing process. Unlike other methods that take time to see results, EFT offers an immediate sense of relief, which builds trust in the process and motivates continued healing.

Ready to Try EFT?

If you’re curious about trying EFT, I encourage you to start by identifying something that’s been weighing on you—whether it’s a stressful situation, an uncomfortable emotion, or even physical tension. Tap along while voicing your feelings, and notice how you feel afterward.

If you’d like personalized support, I offer one-on-one sessions where we dive deep into your unique needs, combining EFT with breathwork and other holistic modalities to help you heal and transform from within.

In moments of darkness, it’s easy to feel like there’s no way out. But tools like EFT remind us that healing doesn’t have to be complicated—it can be as simple as gently tapping and allowing ourselves to feel, process, and release.

Remember that any work is meaningful work, by showing yourself how much you care, you are already transforming your life with unconditional love, and you are not alone in this.

With love and light,

Miya Magic
